Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing. - Benjamin Franklin
I am originally from Eagan, MN, but grew up spending summers swimming and fishing in northern Wisconsin. I attended Grinnell College, in Grinnell, IA, where I was a history major and obtained my secondary teaching credential for both English and Social Studies. After graduating, I moved to Lesotho and taught MS/HS in Southern Africa. I then taught HS English for two years at Timber Lake before moving to Sully Buttes High School. In Onida I taught HS English and American History. I am excited to now be a part of Gettysburg's MS team; middle school is where I first became passionate about reading and writing, and I am excited to help students discover the power language holds. When I am not busy with school, I love hiking, swimming, baking bread, and traveling. My favorite writers include Sherman Alexie, Arundhati Roy, Tim O'Brien, Louise Erdrich, Gabriel García Márquez, and Louis L'Amour. This year, in addition to teaching, I will be the oral interp. advisor and helping with MS Student Council. |
